George A. Marr 1905 - 1970

The Clinton Herald Friday August 14, 1970 p. 12 George E. Marr, 65, 2369 Dunham St., died in his home this morning. A medical examiner said that death was due to natural causes. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Theodore Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the Snell-Smith funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday. Pallbearers will be Garrett Beherns, John Sanders, Melvin Lorenzen, Clifford Swanson, Nilan Miller and Alvin Paysen. Mr. Marr was born Jan. 21, 1905, in Jackson County, the son of George E. and Althea Simpson Marr. He married Mildred Runquist of Clinton August 22, 1929. He retired last January from Clinton Corn Processing Co. where he was employed as a turbine operator. He farmed in Clinton County for several years, and lived in Clinton for 41 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of Moose No. 363 and the 25-year Club at Clinton Corn. Survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. LaVerne (Marilyn) Skiff of Clinton; two sons, Allen of Peoria, Ill., and David of Jackson, Mich.; six grandchildren; three brothers. Bernard and Marshall both of Clinton and Herbert of Kersey, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Edith) Schuette. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
