The Clinton Herald Monday June 11, 1923 p. 6 Death came suddenly Saturday afternoon at 4:55 o'clock to Mrs. Clark E. Chalker, who was a patient at Jane Lamb hospital undergoing treatment for a minor operation. When seemingly in much improved health and while conversing with her mother and sister, she gasped lightly and passed away, death due to embolism that closed valves in the heart. Dalphine M. Thompson, wife of Clark E. Chalker, was born in Clinton September 11, 1883, she was married February 1, 1921, and passed away June 9. There are left to mourn her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Thompson, and her only sister, Mrs. John W. Hall. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock at the home of her parents, 430 Sixth avenue, the Rev. H.E. Harned officiating; the Order of the Eastern Star to have charge of the services at the grave. Mrs. Chalker was a woman of much ability and strength of character, a daughter and sister upon whom there was ever placed much reliance and she carried the same characteristics into her home where she was happiest in doing for loved ones. A kindly woman, yes, in all that the word implied for from girlhood she had been kind to all who came within the circle of her friendship. She was a splendid member in Clinton chapter, 65, O.E.S., of Magi shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and of the Boat club auxiliary.
