The Clinton Herald Thursday December 18, 1947 p. 20 Mrs. Lucille Chalker, 56, of 1016 North Second street, died early this morning in Jane Lamb hospital, where she had been a patient three weeks. Mrs. Chalker, for former Lucille Howes, was a teacher in Clinton schools 20 years. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Bragonier - Fay chapel. The Rev. Charles Hemstead, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Mrs. Chalker, born Dec. 30, 1890, in Clinton, the daughter of Thomas R. and Emma Howes, was a graduate of Clinton high school, and had taught school in Clinton 20 years. After ending her teaching career, she became church secretary of the First Methodist church and was also a member of the Y.W.C.A. Surviving are two sisters and one brother, John L. Howes and Miss Elizabeth Howes, Clinton, and Mrs. Ray Tyler, Sr., Camanche, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
