The Clinton Herald Wednesday April 15, 1959 p. 17 Charles L. Klaes Sr., 62, 2908 N. 2nd St., died unexpectedly at 5:30 a.m. today in his home. The body is at the Pape funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral arrangements are pending. Charles L. Klaes Sr., was born March 2, 1897, in St. Louis, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Callenborn Klaes. He was married in 1920 to Julia Rutledge. She died in 1933, and on July 5, 1937, he married Alice Kolar. He was an employee of the Curtis Co., and was a member of St. Irenaeus church, Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name society at St. Irenaeus; Odeon association and the local Carpenters and Joiners union. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Charles L. Klaes Jr., Clinton, and Dr. Marvin F. Klaes of Seymour, Ind.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Berniece) Witt, Clinton; a sister, Miss Molly Klaes of Clinton, and 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his first wife were his parents, 2 brothers, a sister and a son.
