FULTON, Ill. — Funeral services honoring the life of Norma A. McCrea, 81, of Fulton, Illinois, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Paul Holmer officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2008, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Norma passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary McCrea, Richard Burtt, Alan Bielema, Donald Obermiller, Michael Grinnall, and Larry Carpenter.Norma Albertine Bumann was born September 28, 1926, in Clinton, the daughter of Marion and Lillian (Brandenburg) Bumann. She married John “Dick” McCrea on August 28, 1974.Norma attended Clinton Community Schools and went on to graduate from Bucell School of Beauty Culture with a degree in cosmetology in 1946.Norma was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clinton. She also served as past president of the Clinton Hairdresser’s Association. In her younger years, Norma was an avid bowler and was a member of two state championship bowling teams. She took pleasure in bird watching, collecting and reading cookbooks and baking. But it was her concern for others and love for family that was especially important to her throughout her life.Norma is survived by her husband, Dick McCrea, of Fulton, Illinois; two daughters, Lynette (Richard) Burtt of California and Jill (Alan) Bielema of Albany, Illinois; one son, William G. Dawson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; four grandchildren, Zachary McCrea, Matthew Sloan, Benjamin Bielema and Brigham Bielema; one great-grandson, Vaughan McCrea; two sisters, Donna (Mick) Grinnall and Janice Kunavich both of Clinton, Iowa.Norma was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Kay, in infancy, and Debra; two sisters, June and Jacklyn; and one brother, Jack.The family requests that memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Clinton, Iowa; Albany Fire Protection District of Albany, Illinois; and Harbor Crest Care Facility in Fulton, Illinois.Online condolences may be expressed to Norma’s family by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.Death date: Jan. 3, 2008
