DUBUQUE — Karen Parmer, 57, Dubuque, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, died suddenly on Friday, December 21, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. Karen was born in Clinton, Iowa, on April 1st, 1950, the daughter of Paul and Dolores (Jacobsen) Parmer Kruse. She graduated from Northeast High School, Goose Lake, Iowa, in 1969. She was a janitor at the DeWitt Hospital and later lived and worked at Clinton Community Care, Charlotte, Iowa. She later resided at the Julien Care Facility in Dubuque, Iowa. Karen enjoyed crafts, dancing and the time spent with her family.Survivors include: 3 brothers, Steve (Kimberly) Parmer, Clinton, Iowa, Tom Parmer, Quincy, Illinois, and William H. (Lydia) Kruse, DeWitt, Iowa; and several aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27th, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa.The Reverend Christine Minor-Heilig will preside at the service. Burial will follow in Center Grove Cemetery in Bryant.Visitation will precede the funeral service on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Steve Parmer, Tom Parmer, Bill Kruse and Scott Prier. Honorary pallbearer will be Glen Jacobsen.Memorials may be designated to the family per their wishes.Online condolences may be sent to www.nelsoncfuneralhome.com.Death date: Dec. 21, 2007
