CLINTON — Joan J. Hess, 76, of Clinton, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at her home in Clinton. Private funeral services will be Monday, December 24, 2007, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Michael C. Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. Joan June Lorenz was born on February 24, 1931, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Hilbert and Zelda Lorenz. She married William R. Hess on October 22, 1950, in Clinton; he later died November 24, 1987. She was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School. She was employed at Burpee Seed Company in Clinton as a floor supervisor for several years. She received the KQAA Recognition Service Award for her 18 years of volunteering. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Hess of Clinton; two sons, Bill (Helena) Hess of Clinton and Richard (Carrie) Hess of Fulton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Neese, Jacob Hess, Libby Hess, Rebbeca Hess, Tiffany Kelly, Steven Hess and Nicole Hess; and two great-grandchildren, Amber Neese and Kaitlin Neese. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
