The Clinton Herald Tuesday June 30, 1998 p. 7 Elmer W. Claussen, 82, of 2431 Grant St., died Monday at his home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Clinton Chapel, Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Boyd Ellefson, chaplain with the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Michael Schultz, Robert and Jason Dawson, Tom and Adam Claussen and Andrew Stowers. He was born July 30, 1915, in Washington Township, Clinton County, to Herman and Martha Bielenberg Claussen. He married Betty Herrity, Dec. 22, 1943, in Missouri. He attended the rural Clinton County Schools. He was a truck driver and had worked with Foley Construction Co., Determann Blacktop Co., John L. Franks, and Claussen Livestock Trucking. He retired in 1976. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Leita (Michael) Schultz, Mrs. Janet (Bruce) Johnson and Mrs. Barbara (Tim) Manikowski, all of Clinton; three sons, William Claussen of Chenoa, Ill., Gary Claussen of Fort Collins, Colo., and Thomas Claussen of Clinton; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers. Death date: June 29, 1998.
