The Clinton Herald Tuesday August 22, 1961 p. 8 Mrs. Mary Burchell Shoecraft, 85, of Erie, died Monday in the home of her son, Robert L. Shoecraft of Moline. She had been ill four years. The deceased was the widow of Lucian Shoecraft who died in 1911. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Schilling funeral home at Erie, with burial in a Clinton, Iowa, cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home. Mary Burchell was born Nov. 25, 1875, in Erie to Robert L. and Margaret James Burchell. She was a member of a prominent Erie pioneer family and was a community leader. Survivors are the son; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Warner of Lancaster, Pa.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also preceding her were a daughter, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
