The Clinton Herald Friday December 1951 p. 21 Mrs. Roscoe W. Armstrong, 70, died at 6:50 a.m. today in Mercy hospital where she had been a patient one day. The body was taken to the Snell funeral home where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening. Beginning Saturday morning the body will repose in the family home in Camanche. Services will be held in the family home at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Dr. Bruce McCullough, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Cremation will be in Davenport. Mrs. Armstrong had been active in civic and social affairs until recent years. Her father was the founder and first president of the City National bank and her mother was the first manager of Agatha hospital, now Jane Lamb. Mrs. Armstrong was born Ruby Stone, Nov. 30, 1881, in Clinton, the daughter of A.L. and Kitty Angel Stone. She attended the public schools in Clinton and the Episcopal Cathedral school for girls in Washington, D.C., of which she was a graduate. She married Roscoe W. Armstrong Oct. 7, 1907, in Clinton. Mrs. Armstrong was a life-long resident of Clinton, living most of this time at 1205 North Second street. For the last eight years the home has been in Camanche. She is survived by her husband; one son, Kenneth, of Clinton; one daughter, Mrs. C.S. (Katherine) Wright, Clinton; and four grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Roscoe W. Jr., in 1936, and two sisters.
