The Clinton Herald Thursday May 28, 1962 p. 18 Emil Morris, 83, of 960 S. 18th St., died Wednesday evening in Jane Lamb Hospital where he had been a patient since Monday. He had been a prominent Clinton clothier for 43 years. Mr. Morris had been affiliated with the Martin Morris clothing store since 1919 and was secretary-treasurer of the firm. He was born Dec. 29, 1878 in German, the son of Marx and Sophie Einstein Morris. He came to this country at the age of 14, settling in Chicago. He was married to Georgia Moffett, Jan. 1, 1909. He was a member of the Clinton Rotary club; Trelumilnar Lodge, 767, A.F. and A.M., in Chicago; DeMolay Consistory; Kaaba Shrine; Delta Council 23; Keystone Chapter 32, R.A.M.; Holy Cross Commandery 10. K.T. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Louine) Gerke of Clinton; two granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, in April of 1960; two sisters and four brothers. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Bragonier-Fay chapel with the Rev. Harold Putney of the First Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 p.m. today.
