Alvin Hardersen, 85, Route 2, DeWitt, died Thursday in DeWitt Community Hospital.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Roger Hoppenworth officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday in Schultz-McGinnis Funeral Home, DeWitt.
He was born Dec. 17, 1896, in Clinton County, to Thomas and Catherine Carstensen[sic]. He married Catharina Diercks Jan. 20, 1932 in Rock Island. She died May 10, 1979. He was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton American Legion and Clinton County Farm Bureau. He had farmed his entire life in the Camanche and DeWitt areas, before retiring.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Marian) Berner of DeWitt; three brothers, Chris of DeWitt, Bill of Clinton and Edwin of Camanche; four grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, a sister, two brothers, two half brothers and two half sisters.
