Martin P.W. Hardersen, 88, of 835 11th Ave. S. died Friday evening in Jane Lamb Hospital following a brief illness.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at Snell-Smith funeral home, until 11:30 a.m. Monday when the body will be taken to Chancy Lutheran church to repose until the funeral at 2 p.m. Rev. William D. King will officiate with Mrs. Fred Kube as the vocalist. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Nelson, Elmer Domsalla, Fred Domsalla, Fred Fuhrmann, Paul Mueller and Arthur Bruhn.
Martin Hardersen was born August 3, 1878 in Germany, the son of Thomas and Cecelia[sic] Hardersen. He came to this country and to Clinton as a child. He was married to Helga Jurgensen Oct. 9, 1901 in Clinton and was a city fireman with 25 years of service when he retired in 1932. Mr. Hardersen was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Laurine) Warehime, Milledgeville, Ill., and Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Detlefsen, Clinton; one sister, Mrs. Margaret McNulty, Clinton; six brothers, John and William of Clinton, Chris and Alvin of DeWitt, Edward of Camanche, and Thomas of Anamosa; four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
