The Clinton Herald Friday September 23, 1960 p. 12 Mrs. John Dau, Miles resident, died at 3:40 a.m. today in the Bellevue Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for three days. Funeral services will be held Monday with the prayer service at 1:30 in the Krabbenhoft funeral home in Preston, followed by church services at 2 o'clock in St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. G. Engehardt will officiate with burial in the Miles cemetery. Friends may call at the Krabbenhoft funeral home where the body reposes. Dorothea Bruhn was born Oct. 18, 1875, in Germany and came to the United States in 1904, settling around Miles. She married John Dau, Dec. 12, 1896. A member of the Lutheran faith, she also belonged to the Lutheran Ladies aid. Surviving are the husband; four daughters, Mrs. Emenzo Dietz of Maquoketa; Mrs. William Nagel of Miles and Mrs Hugo Thielen and Mrs. Ernest Jackson, both of Green Island; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, three daughters and one son.
