The Clinton Herald Friday July 27, 1917 p. 8 John Frederick Greve, prominent Clinton county farmer, died early this morning at his rural residence west of Lyons, following an illness of two weeks. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Mr. Greve was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, September 18, 1855, and was 62 years of age. With his parents he came to this country in 1865 and settled in Clinton county where he had since resided, living at the present location the past 19 years. He was a man of who always took an active interest in the county and city affairs. In 1883 he was unted in marriage to Miss Katherine Gehlsen, who survives him, also one brother, Glaus Greve of this city and one sister, Mrs. Peter Schmidt. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late home. Burial will be in the Dierks cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
