The Clinton Herald Friday November 19, 1999 p. 9 The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, for Mary D. Shanks, 79, of the Alverno Health Care Facility, formerly of 523 Seventh Ave. South. She died Tuesday at Mercy North Hospital Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Clinton Chapel, Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory, where a 5 p.m. vigil service and a 6 p.m. P.E.O. service will be conducted. Interment will be in Springdale Cemetery. She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Clinton, to Newton and Adelaide Fenlon Davies. She married Morris B. Shanks, Feb. 7, 1948, in Clinton. She was a graduate of Clinton High School and Mount Saint Clare College. She had been employed as a secretary with E.I. du Pont for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, and its altar and rosary society. She also was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhoon, the Alpha Delphian Literary Society and the Daughters of Isabella. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Barry) Lyerly of Lincolnshire, Ill.; to grandsons: and two sisters, Joann Davies of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Eleanor (T.T.) Fowler of South Hadley, Mass.
