The Clinton Herald Wednesday November 23, 1927 p. 8 Claus W. Greve, Sr., 2302 Garfield street, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock at the home of his son, John Greve, residing in Stockwell Lane. His death followed an illness of a year's duration. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of his son, John Greve, in Stockwell Lane. Burial will be in the Dierks cemetery. Deceased was born June 4, 1854, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and was 73 years of age at the time of his demise. He came to America with his parents when 11 years of age. They settled on a farm in Hampshire township. In 1879 he was united in marrage to Miss Wilhelmina Wilke, who preceded him in death in 1886. To this union three sons were born. Otto passed away at the age of 9. Surviving are John and Claus Greve, two grandchildren, the Misses Helen and Margaret Greve, one sister, Mrs. Lindmeier preceded him in death. In 1892 he was again united in marriage to Franke Sievers, who passed away January 16, 1925.

The Clinton Herald Friday November 25, 1927 p. 8 Funeral services for Claus W. Greve, Sr., who died Tuesday afternoon, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his son, John Greve, in Stockwell Lane. The Rev. Daniel Hogan of the Community church officiated. The singers were Mrs. Harry Eaton and Mrs. George Hanssen. Pallbearers were: Henry Hansen, J.H. Nissen, Barney Peterson, Henry Clausen, Milt Aikman and John Schult. Flower bearers were: The Misses Lois Kuhl, Marie Jensen, Emma Ruser, Hazel Lindmeier, Opal and Luella Dalton. Interment was in the Dierks cemetery.
