Proulx, Shirley Jean

SPARKS, Nev. — On Monday, December 3, 2007, Shirley Jean Proulx, beloved wife and mother, left this world to join her best friend and the love of her life, James Proulx. Shirley was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from Lyons High School. Shirley met and married her best friend, Jim, in October of 1960.Shirley dedicated her life to her family. Shirley volunteered countless hours for school activities in support of her children. She is survived by brothers, Albert and Gary of Clinton, Iowa; her six children, Robert Barkwill, Paula Proulx, Michael Proulx, Larry Proulx, Lisa Proulx (Haughn) and Thomas Proulx, all of Reno. Shirley is also survived by grandchildren, Kristin, Nicole, Hannah, Austin, Noah and her great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison and Carmen. Shirley was an animal lover and leaves behind Ebony, Gizmo and Rosie.Shirley loved her grandchildren, baking, arts and crafts and the Chicago Cubs and Bears.Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Melva Langrehr, and brothers, Larry and Fred.Shirley was a loving wife and wonderful mother. She had a very giving and charitable heart and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.A private family service and internment will be held at Our Mother of Sorrow’s Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow.Death date: Dec. 3, 2007
