The Clinton Herald Saturday January 29, 1972 p. 10 William H. Calnan Jr., 76, 426 10th Ave. S., died this morning in Mercy Hospital. The Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church. A prayer service will precede the funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Dalton Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday. The St. Mary's Parish Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Calnan was born Aug. 3, 1895, in Clinton, the son of William H. and Margaret Purcell Calnan Sr. He married Pauline Adams, Sept. 29, 1925, in Vesper, Wis. He was the proprietor of the Calnan Hardware Store at 1002 S. 4th St. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the VFW. Survivors include his widow; one son, William III of LeClaire; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Margaret Mary) O'Keefe of Springfield, Ill., and eight grandchildren.
