- 1966The Clinton Herald February 15, 1966 Samuel B. Marquis, 62, 2901 Meadowbrook Drive, died at 5 p.m. Monday in University hospitals, Iowa City, as the result of injuries suffered last Wednesday when struck by an automobile. A requiem mass for Mr. Marquis will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Grace Episcopal church. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Visitation at the Pape funeral home will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Alvin Nelson will be organist. Pallbearers will be William Gilmore, William Dornbush, William Blankenberg, Keith Farley, Franklin Ebensberger and Marquis Smith. Mr. Marquis was born Oct. 26, 1903, in Clinton, the son of Guy F. and Clara Beers Marquis. He had been employed since 1926 by Interstate Power Company. He was a member of Lyons lodge, 93, A.F. & A.M.; DeMolay Consistory, Kaaba Shrine temple, the Lyons club and the Loyal Order of Moose. He is survived by one brother, John F. Marquis of Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Miss Sarah Marquis of Clinton, one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
