The Clinton Herald Saturday May 6, 1922 p. 6 Daniel B. Ellis, son of the late Hon. L.A. and Mrs. Ellis of this city, passed away last evening at Denver, Colo., after a week's illness with pneumonia. There are left his wife, a son Earl H. Ellis, 1342 Adams street, Denver, Colo., a grandson, Bobby Ellis, one sister and four brothers, Mrs. G.E. Lamb and F.W. Ellis of Clinton, George and Charles Ellis of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dr. Lyman Ellis of Chicago. His death is the first break in the children's circle since the passing the parents some years ago. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Ellis was born in Lyons 66 years ago, was graduated from the Lyons High school and the State University of Iowa. He read law in the offices of Judge Bailey and was admitted to practice in the Clinton county bar. Later he went to Denver where he gained prestige as one of the ablest attorneys of the city and state of Colorado, a member of one of the most prominent law firms in the state. His son is now identified with the same firm. In addition to handling the business of big eastern firms Mr. Ellis was active inthe membership of an organization that developed the waste lands of southern Colorado, promoting colonies that have grown rich and have helped to put the farming activities of the state on a big basis.
