McCue, Patrick A. "Pat"

LANARK, Ill. — Patrick “Pat” A. McCue, age 79, of Lanark, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center, Mt. Carroll, Illinois.He was born March 26, 1928, at Mt. Carroll, son of Dorothy (McCue) Bishop, and raised by his great-aunt and uncle, Sadie (Elliott) Law and Chester Law. He graduated in 1946 from the Savanna High School, Savanna, Illinois.He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church at Mt. Carroll. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark, he served on many committees and as president of the church council. He farmed for more than 50 years at Lanark. He belonged to the Carroll County Farm Bureau and served several terms as a director before and after serving as president for 12 years. During his presidency, the County Farm Bureau received three president's awards, bronze eagles, which are the highest annual award for a County Farm Bureau of its size. He served as an alternate on the Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District Board and on the FS Board. He was treasurer of the County Economic Development Committee and served on its predecessor organization.Pat and Dorothy Knauer were married on May 14, 1949. He enjoyed many years of dancing with his wife and friends, visits over coffee at the restaurant and going to Texas in the winter. This past year he enjoyed reading and watching the History and Discovery channels.Surviving him are his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Diane (Jim) Komiskey of Lanark and Charlotte (Ron) Atherton of Thomson, Illinois; three grandchildren, Kathleen (Steffin) Griswold of Robbinsdale, Minn., Martin (Dawn) Komiskey of Loves Park, Ill., and Ryan Atherton of Thomson,; and three stepgrandchildren, Jacob Watkins, Jordee Watkins and Jace Watkins, all of Loves Park. Preceding him in death were his mother, great-aunt and uncle. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark with the funeral service to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanark on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.The family requests no flowers please. In lieu of them, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark, and the Lanark Ambulance. Death date: Nov. 27, 2007
