MORRISON, Ill. — Tony M. Komlanc Sr., 88, of 416 E. Main St., Morrison, Ill., died Friday, November 23, 2007, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Ill.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, Ill. The Rev. Father William Antillon, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, Ill., will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, Ill., there will be a wake service at 7:45 p.m.Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill., with military graveside honors. Memorials may be given to Mass Offerings, St. Bede Academy, and St. Jude’s Hospital.He was born December 31, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., to Andrew and Mary (Klemence) Komlanc. Tony graduated high school from St. Bede Academy, Peru, Ill. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated from the Illinois State University with a BS in education. He received his master’s degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, in administration. He married Betty Lou Bulfer on June 8, 1946, in Peru, Ill. She survives.He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Tony was employed with the Morrison School District for 32 years as a teacher, coach and athletic director. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, Ill. He was a member of the IHSA where he had served on the board and the Morrison Athletic Booster Club. Tony was inducted into the IHSA football coach’s hall of fame, the St. Bede and Morrison Athletic Hall of Fame and the Shoot the Bull Hall of Fame. He was a member of Morrison American Legion Post 328. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou; five daughters, Betsy (Mrs. Jim) Prombo of Morrison, Ill., Nancy (Mrs. Gary) Hamblin of Champaign, Ill., Mary Jane (Mrs. Tim) Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., Rosemary (Mrs. Jim) Sissine of Atlanta, Ga., and Sara (Mrs. Kelvin) Tenboer of Morrison, Ill.; one son, Tony Komlanc Jr. of St. Croix, USVI; nineteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.To send online condolences go to www.bosmarenkes.com.He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.Death date: Nov. 23, 2007
