Hansen, Stella J.

IOWA CITY — Stella J. Hansen, age 95 of Iowa City, formerly of Clinton, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Prince of Peace Parish - Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be held Thursday 3 to 7 p.m., with a 6:45 p.m. vigil service and Friday 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Stella was born on March 3, 1912, in Goose Lake, IA, the daughter of Gustav and Winnifred (Farrell) Thiessen. She attended “The Thiessen School” in Goose Lake and graduated from Clinton High School in 1929. She married Arthur J. “Jimmie” Hansen on June 26, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church in Clinton. She was a homemaker and managed a boarding house for over 30 years. She was an active volunteer in girl scouting and many other of her daughters’ activities. She was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church, including the Altar and Rosary Society, PTA and helping with any school functions. She was a caregiver to many relatives throughout her life. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Stella is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Barbara (Donald) Evans of Iowa City, IA, Mrs. Carol (Gary) Anderson of Aledo, IL, and Mary Beth Doerrfeld of Swisher, IA; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two siblings in infancy, three sisters, a brother and a grandson.Death date: Nov. 23, 2007
