The Clinton Herald Saturday May 16, 1959 p. 8 Mrs. Johannes Harksen, 73, of 1103 N. 3rd St., died late Friday afternoon in Jane Lamb hospital. She had been in failing health for several years. Services are planned for 3 p.m. Monday in the Zion Lutheran church with Rev. M.S. Bredow, officiating. The body will repose in the church from noon Monday until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Rose of Sharon mausoleum. The friends may call at the Snell-Smith funeral home. Anna Eggers was born Oct. 30, 1885, in Hampshire township, the daughter of Peter and Anna Ehlers Eggers. She was married Feb. 12, 1913 in Clinton, to Johannes L. Harksen. They farmed near Elvira for many years prior to moving to Clinton, 17 years ago. Survivors include her husband; 1 daughter, Mrs. Waldo (Violet) Mommsen of Route 2, Clinton; 3 brothers, Claus and Herman Eggers of Clinton and Gus Eggers of Long Beach, Calif.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Hulda Tholen of Chicago, Mrs. Walter Wessel and Mrs. Pauline Stamp, both of Clinton and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers.
