The Clinton Herald Thursday February 5, 1970 p. 14 Walter W. Eggers, 63, of 1258 Florence Ave., a well known Clinton attorney, died unexpectedly in his Howes Bldg. law office shortly before noon today. Arrangements are pending in the Snell-Smith funeral home. Mr. Eggers was born May 26, 1906, in Wagner, S.D., the son of J.W. and Barbara Strobehn Eggers. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1932. He was a high school principal in Kennard, Neb., from 1928 to 1930 and in Strahan, Neb. in 1933-34. He was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1932 and established his Clinton law practice in 1934. He served in the U.S. Air Force in 1944-1945, resuming his law practice after his discharge. Mr. Eggers served as assistant Clinton County attorney from 1938 to 1944 and was acting county attorney in 1951-52 while Kermit G. Kruse was on active duty with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Eggers served as city attorney from 1956 to 1965. He was a member of state and Clinton County Bar associations, a past exalted ruler of Clinton Lodge 199, B.P.O. Elks, American Legion, and Masonic bodies. Mr. W. Eggers is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Smith, whom he married June 2, 1940; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Hartranft of Ann Arbor, Mich., and a son Arthur, of Clinton.
