Van Atta, Gladys E.

CLINTON — Gladys E. Van Atta, 86, of Clinton, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Bickford Cottage.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in California. As per her wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy for scientific research. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

Gladys was born October 30, 1921, in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph M. and Frieda A. (Monson) Van Atta. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Marycrest College and her Master’s from Colorado State. She had been employed as a teacher for more than 40 years, 34 years at Washington Middle School.

Survivors include her brothers, Donald C. Van Atta of Calabasas, CA and Wendell D. Van Atta of Santa Barbara, CA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
