Talik, Chester J.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Chester J. Talik, 81, of Rock Island, died Friday, November 2, 2007, at his residence. A memorial mass for Mr. Talik will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. There will be no public visitation. Inurnment will be in the Andover Cemetery, Andover, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Chester was born May 18, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Dominic and Julia Zabska-Talik. He married Vera Naeve on September 29, 1947 in Moline. She preceded her husband in death on May 26, 2003. Mr. Talik worked for the International Harvester Company, East Moline, as a forecasting engineer. He retired in April 1982 after 38 years of service.His memberships include St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Quad-City Stamp Club. Chester enjoyed playing golf, woodworking and going to estates sales. He deeply enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Debra Dickens, Davenport, Cheryl and Steve Hoots, Rock Island, Carol and Paul Stanforth, Rock Island, Craig and Constance Talik, Powell, Ohio; grandchildren, Brian, Bree, Scott, Holly, Grant, Daniel, and Anne; great-grandchildren, Helena, Chloe, Jackson and Lola.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vera and his brothers and sisters.
