ALBANY, Ill. — Robert W. Howard, 63, of 502 Fifth Ave. South, Albany, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. David W. Davies Jr., pastor of Albany United Methodist Church, and the Rev. George Woosnam, pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon, Ill., will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, Ill., with graveside military honors by the Albany American Legion Hanson/Kennedy Post 1079.

Memorials will be established by the family.

He was born January 8, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa, to Harry H. and Harriet C. (Shannon) Howard. He was educated at Albany Grade School and was a 1962 graduate of Fulton High School. He received an associates degree from Clinton Community College. He married Noreen E. Baker on Nov. 12, 1966, in Fulton, Ill. She survives.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Following his military service, he was employed by Nitrin, Cordova, Ill., then Ralston Purina, Clinton, Iowa, and most recently he owned and operated Bob’s Pit Stop, Albany, Ill., for 18 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of Albany American Legion Hanson/Kennedy Post 1079, Albany United Methodist Church, Albany Lions Club, Albany Chamber of Commerce, president of the Albany Sanitary District, member of the Friends of Albany Indian Mounds and former Village of Albany trustee and mayor. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He also was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his wife, Noreen; two daughters, Lisa (Mrs. Craig) Abbott of Camanche, Iowa, and Marci (Mrs. Charles) Potter of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Tiana, Drey and Conner Abbott and Tyler Potter; one sister, Christine (Mrs. Al) Ottens of Chadwick, Ill.; and one brother, Steve Howard of Albany, Ill.
