Jenkins, Claude M.

CLINTON — Claude M. Jenkins, 90, of Clinton, formerly of Sparta, Tennessee, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. A short prayer service will conclude the visitation. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Shady Grove Methodist Church in Walling, Tennessee. Serving as pallbearers will be Lee McClure, Harold McClure, Ron Winn, Keethan Disbrow, Ted Tudor, and Tom Ross. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Claude Meek Jenkins was born on January 28, 1917, in Sparta, Tennessee, the son of Edward and Lou Ritha (Meek) Jenkins. He married Leona Rohde on December 20, 1941, in Missouri; she died October 1993. Claude was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. Claude was employed as a maintenance rigger at EI DuPont in Clinton for over 38 years, retiring in 1979. Claude was a member of the Shady Grove Methodist Church and Lyons United Methodist Church in Clinton.

Claude is survived by three sons, Leslie Jenkins and his wife, Bonnie, of Iowa City, Iowa; David Jenkins and his wife, Kay, of Clinton, Iowa; Craig Jenkins of Clinton, Iowa; one daughter, Claudia and her husband, Norm Zier, of Apache Junction, Arizona; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hubbs, John Petersen, Tom Jenkins and Curtis Jenkins; two great-grandchildren, Casey and Caden Hubbs; two stepgrandchildren, Jesse Miller and Tony Zier; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Alex Zier, Jamie Miller, and Andrew Miller.

Claude is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Thomas, two brothers, and four sisters.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Lyons United Methodist Church.
