Esther M. Paulson, age 71, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2007, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, October 27, 2007, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa, with Chaplain/Celebrant Rev. Ruth Ann Scott of Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 27, 2007, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Esther M. Manning was born on June 20, 1936 near Delmar, Iowa, to Edna Manning. She was educated in Elwood Schools. She married Clarence M. "Sarge" Paulson on June 16, 1956 in Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2003.

Esther had worked at various jobs and restaurants in Maquoketa for many years. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Maquoketa, and was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed visiting with friends, listening to the radio, watching the television show "Law and Order", and going to garage sales. She especially enjoyed country music and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Esther is survived by: children- Steve (Amy) Paulson of Manchester, IA, Cheryl Moore of Maquoketa, IA, & Rick (Lori) Paulson of Tripoli, IA; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; & 2 half-sisters- Donna Davenport of Maquoketa, IA, & Judy Davenport of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband.

An Esther M. Paulson Memorial Fund has been established.
