Hlubek, Carole J.

Carole J. Hlubek, 59, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at her home in Clinton. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Prince of Peace Parish Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tony Herold officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Following the services the body will be cremated.

Carole Jean Herr was born on October 30, 1947, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred “Fritz” and Lillian (Sloan) Herr. Carole graduated from high school at Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas, and received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in English from the University of Texas Pan-American in Edinburg, Texas. Carole was currently the manager of Writing Consultants for Ashford University and also served as assistant to the vice president of Academic Affairs and assistant to the president. She had been employed with the college since 1999. She was formerly employed with Swiss Colony and the Mississippi Belle II Casino. Carole was active as a board member of the United Way in Clinton. She had a great sense of humor, and was compassionate and loyal to the people she loved. She is irreplaceable and will never be forgotten.

She is survived by three daughters: Dana (Bradley) Molder of Clinton, Iowa, Suzanne (Brett) Rothwell of Katy, Texas, and Katrina Hlubek of College Station, Texas; one son: D.J. Hlubek of Clinton, Iowa; five grandchildren: Tyler Gonzales, Jarrett Gonzales, McKenna Molder, Nathan Rothwell, and Bennett Rothwell; three brothers: Joseph (Diane) Herr of Pheonix, Arizona, David (Tamela) Herr of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bill Herr of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister: Mary Herr of Austin, Texas; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son: Kenneth. If a memorial is chosen, the family requests that it be made to United Way in Clinton.
