In Loving Memory
1924 - 2007

CLINTON — Edward J. Hill, 83, of Clinton, Iowa died Friday, October 19, 2007 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 11:00AM at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral home and Crematory. The service will begin with a Masonic Blue Lodge Service. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial of the cremains will be at the Springdale Cemetery. The Camanche VFW Post #9664 and AMVETS Post #28 will conduct military services.

Ed was born July 20, 1924 at home, the son of Leonard E. and Marcia (Bristol) Hill. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1942. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific and the Philippines for over two and a half years. After discharge from the service, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Clinton Corn. He then attended the Watchmaking School in Denver, CO. He owned and operated his own jewelry store in Clinton from 1949 to 1962. He was a certified master watchmaker and repaired watches for many jewelers in the area. Ed went to work as an insurance agent for the Metropolitan Insurance Company, later becoming an independent agent and real estate broker. His office was in Camanche as Hill-Hubbart Insurance Agency. He retired in 1986. Ed married Sara Ann (Sally) Holman July 2, 1955. They were blessed with a daughter, Sara Lynn. Ed was a life member of the VFW Post 9664, Camanche and life member of William Forsee AMVETS Post # 28, a fifty year member of the Camanche Masonic Lodge # 60, and was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Consistory. He hunted for many years and was an avid fisherman. He liked working with wood and a good game of cards.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sally, daughter Sara Hill Cole and a very precious granddaughter, Cate of Chicago (aka Spud Jr.), and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marcia Hill Woodard and brother Leonard Hill.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, David Hill, Gary Hill, James Hill, Mitch Woodard and Mike Woodard and Richard Farwell, Richard Kelley, Michael Krogman, Don McManus and John Krogman.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Camanche VFW, Clinton AMVETS or to Ducks Unlimited.
