The Clinton Herald Monday August 25, 1941 p. 5 John Nels (Jackie) Gaarde, five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John N. Gaarde, 2431 Grant street, died of pneumonia at 8 p.m. Sunday in Mercy hospital. The body reposes in the family home until 10 o'clock Wednesday morning when it will be taken to the Pape funeral home where services will be held Wednesday afternoon. Jackie Gaarde was born March 7, 1936, in Clinton, the son of John and Malinda Gaarde. He attended the Community church Sunday school. Surviving besides his parent his parents are two sister, Helen at home and Mrs. Ben (Marjorie) Thomas, 2718 Pershing boulevard and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frank Freund of Clinton. He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank; his maternal granfather, Frank Freund, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Gaarde.
