SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Community Church, Maquoketa, with Pastor Nathan Combs officiating.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Mary Helen Wood, 98, of Colorado Springs and formerly of Maquoketa, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Janet Christensen, in Colorado Springs.Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born Dec. 17, 1908, in Maquoketa to Stephen P. and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lubben Maskrey. She married Harry S. Wood on Oct. 11, 1932, in Rockford, Ill. He died in 1985.She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School and attended Maquoketa Business College. She worked as a secretary and then became a homemaker, farming with her husband in the Maquoketa area for many years. She was a member of the Mother’s Club, Forum, Maquoketa Garden Club, Outlook Club and the Maquoketa Community Guild.

Survivors include her children, Janet Christensen of Colorado Springs, Sharon (Brent) Price of Colorado Springs and Stephen (Rose Marie) Wood of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
