Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, officiating.

FULTON, Ill. — Thelma A. Wierenga, 89, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, died Saturday at the nursing home.Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery. The urn bearer will be Glenda Gonzalez.

She was born May 22, 1918, in Morrison, Ill., to John D. and Lena Buis Dykstra. She married Harold H. Wierenga on Sept. 20, 1940, in Morrison. He died in 1999. She attended Morrison grade and high schools. She was a homemaker. She and her husband built Heritage Canyon in Fulton and operated it for 35 years. She was a lifetime member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton where she was involved with many of its ministries.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Gary) Balk of Fulton; one son, Donald H. (Diane) Wierenga of Farmington, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Vandermyde of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
