Keen, Catherine

Catherine Keen passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 in Atlantic Highlands, NJ.

Catherine was born March 03, 1902 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was married to Harry Keen who preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in New Jersey and in 1968, she and her husband moved to Lake Wales, FL. In August of this year she returned to Atlantic Highlands, staying with her daughter, Mrs. Jean Butler.

Throughout her life she was very active in the Catholic Church including Saint Agnes Catholic Church in New Jersey and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales, FL. For decades her home in Florida was notable for it’s informal but well-attended weekly prayer groups and meetings. She also was active in a Choral group that entertained hospitals and nursing homes. Until her death she enjoyed exceptional health of mind and body. She was at peace with the Lord and quite ready to go when called.

Catherine had eight children (one deceased), 42 grandchildren (two deceased), 79 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Local family members are Daughter-in-law Patricia Keen. Grandchildren Gene and Patricia (Keen) Flynn, James and Laura (Keen) Brown, Robert and Debra Keen, Great-grandchildren Jeremy Brown, Jamie Brown, Jennifer Brown, Joshua Keen, Travis Jensen, Emma Flynn and great-great granddaughter Gracie Brown.

Services were celebrated at Saint Agnes Church, Atlantic Highlands, NJ, on September 25, 2007 and another service and the burial was held in Lake Wales, FL on September 29, 2007. May she rest in peace.
