Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Combs, pastor of Faith Community Church in Maquoketa, officiating.

MAQUOKETA — Dennis M. Bowen, 53, of Maquoketa, died Saturday at his home.Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, where full military rites will be conducted by Maquoketa American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 O’Connor-Regenwether and Andrew AMVETS Post 62.

He was born June 16, 1954, in Arcata, Calif., to Kenneth C. and Thelma L. Vaught Bowen. He married Carol Rockwell on June 29, 1972, in Moline, Ill. In his early years, he attended school in Phoenix and received his general equivalency diploma from Maquoketa High School in 1980. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked various jobs as a carpenter, cement mason, truck driver and for the past seven years as a welder for the Egging Co., Clinton. He was a member of Andrew AMVETS Post 62.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Tracy (Todd) Green of Maquoketa, Stacie (Tony) Ramirez of Mount Vernon and Kelly Bowen of Maquoketa; one brother, Jeryl (Jayne) Bowen of Maquoketa; sisters, Lynne (Larry) McPherson of Maquoketa, Denise (Larry) Zirkelbach of Knoxville, Karen Steines of Dubuque and Tonya Duhme of Dubuque; three grandchildren.

A Dennis M. Bowen Memorial Fund has been established. Condolences may be made online at www.carsonandson.com.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one niece.
