Banowetz, Arthur F.

Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston. A Scripture wake service will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. There will be an additional visitation one hour before the service time at the church.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston, with Father Don Plamondon officiating.

PRESTON — Arthur F. Banowetz, 89, of Preston, died Thursday at Trinity Pathway Hospice of Bettendorf.Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery-Sugar Creek in rural Preston.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Barb Easley; Mike and Marty Burken; Adina Pursley; Matt, Katie and Becky Banowetz; Jeff and Brian O’Tool; Michelle Stone; and Mary and Angela Cain.

He was born Sept. 16, 1918 to William and Magdelena Zeiser Banowetz. He married Marie Michel on Feb. 16, 1942.He attended Riggs Country School.He lived and farmed in the Sugar Creek area most of his life. After he retired from farming, he was employed at Kunau Implement in Preston and later Feeders Supply in Preston.He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston where he was a volunteer for many years. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years.

Survivors include one sister, Loretta Petersen of Clinton; three daughters, Betty (Loran) Burken of Clinton, Jane (Dean) O’Tool of Ida Grove, and Marlene (David) Cain of Dixon, Ill.; two sons, Dale Banowetz of Clinton and Glen (Pam) Banowetz of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandson, one brother and two sisters.
