The Clinton Herald Tuesday December 26, 1911 p. 8 The death of Mrs. Catherine M. Wiesch, a well known Lyons woman occurred Saturday evening about 9 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Emil Kofahl, in North Tenth street. Although the deceased had been ill for some two years, she was not considered in a serious condition at this time and her death came as a shock to the relatives and friends alike. The deceased was born August 20, 1848 in Holstein, Germany. At the time of death she was about 63 years and 4 months of age. In 1880 she moved to this country and later in the same year at Bryant, Ia., she was united in marriage to Mr. Reimer Wiesch. Mr. and Mrs. Wiesch soon after their marriage, moved to Avoca, Ia., where they engaged in farming. Here they lived until 1889, when they moved to Lyons and retired from active life. Mr. Wiesch passed away about twenty years ago. The deceased is survived by seven sisters and three brothers. Two of these sisters and one of the brothers live in the old country. The others are Mrs. Max Zingelmann, Mrs. Emil Kofahl and Miss Margaret Roe of Lyons, Mrs. John Sieber of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Carl Gradert of Bryant and Mr. T.H. Boe and Mr. Claus of Lyons. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. Hugo Grimm officiating. Interment was in Oakland cemetery. The deceased resided in West Exchange street.
