Tom Merchant, Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton, officiating. CLINTON — Clara J. Matje, 89, of Clinton, died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center North. Interent will be in Oakland Cemetery, Clinton. She was born March 1, 1918, in Union Grove Township, Ill., to John and Gertie Boelkens Kramer. She married Richard K. “Dick” Matje on June 24, 1949, in Nashua. He died in December 1988.She was educated in the Thomson, Ill., school system.She was employed for 25 years as a meter maid for the City of Clinton, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton, and the church’s Priscilla Circle. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Evelyn) Matje, Clinton, and Ronald (Kim) Matje, Fulton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Memorials may be made to Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton.She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one brother.Death date: Sept. 13, 2007
