Miller, Pearl J.

Pearl J. Miller, 89, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2007 the Harmony House, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Thursday, September 20, 2007 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Camanche with Dr. Donald L. Batz officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Kenneth, Kevin, and Michael Bennett, and Joseph “Rocky” Kampling, Jr., and grandson-in-laws: Paul Beswick and Dan Bennett. Pearl was born on April 30, 1918 in Thomson, Illinois, the daughter of Luther and Charity (Martindale) Williams. She married McClellan “Mac” Miller on August 10, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa; he later died November 27, 1997. She had been employed at several occupations including: a housekeeper, worked at Valley Oaks, Lord-Baltimore Press, Jim Walters, Swift’s, Collis, and cleaned the Imperial Lanes Bowling Alley in Camanche. The job that see took the most pride in was being a homemaker and raising her kids and grandkids. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Camanche, she was active in several bowling leagues at Imperial Lanes, and was also a member of the Camanche Widows Club. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, gardening, fishing and her grandkids. She is survived by daughter: Alta and her husband Lawrence Jones of Camanche; a son: Michael and his wife Ann of Shelley, Idaho; one sister: Etta Planthaber of Rock Falls, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Kenneth (Janelle) Bennett of Davenport, Iowa, Kevin (Sandy) Bennett of Morrison, Colorado, Michael Bennett of Largo, Florida, Kaywyn (Paul) Beswick of Morrison, Illinois, Joseph “Rocky” (Becky) Kampling, Jr. of Canton, Illinois, Kim (Dan) Bennett of Fulton, Illinois, Sarah (Jared) Browning of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Sidney Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho; one step-granddaughter: Mary (Scott) Reinking of Clinton, Iowa; 8 great-granddaughters, 6 step-great grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter: Jo McLeod, one granddaughter: Kathryn “Katie” Miller, two sisters, and two brothers. The family requests that memorials be made to Genesis Hospice, the Harmony House, or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Pearl J.
