Vining, John Henry

John Henry Vining, 81, of Clinton, passed away on Thursday at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Lemke Funeral Homes-South Chapel, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton. Rev. Dennis Glew will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 until the time of service. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett, Neil, Nathan, and Richard Vining, Jason Jones, and Thomas Wolf. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chelly Fink, Jessica Jones, Leah and Sarah Vining, and Amber and Joshua Fink. Military Rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post # 28. A luncheon will follow at the AMVETS.John was born on June 4, 1926 in Clinton, IA to Henry and Gertrude (Mewherter) Vining. He was a member of the United States Navy. John married Verna Dyke on January 11, 1947 in Clinton. He was employed with Dupont as a Mechanic.He is survived by his wife Verna, one daughter, Deborah (Robert) Thies of Clinton, two sons, John (Sheila) Vining of LeClaire, and Mark (Lynn) Vining of Iowa City, grandchildren, Chelly (Adam) Fink of Kansas, Jessica Jones of California, Jason (Roberta Riddle) Jones of Clinton, Neil (Cassandra Goodman) Vining of Davenport, Nathan Vining of LeClaire, Leah, Brett, and Sarah Vining, of Iowa City, great grandchildren, Amber and Joshua Fink of Kansas, one sister, Norma (Axel) Martinsen, of Clinton.He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers.Memorials may be directed to the family.Condolences can be made online at www.lemkefuneralhome.net.John Henry ViningClinton, IowaJune 4, 1926 - September 13, 2007
