Vera Wilhelm, age 86, of Preston, Iowa, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at home in Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston with Reverend Gregory Geier officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., one hour prior to Funeral Service at the Church. Memorials may be given in Vera’s memory. Online condolences may be given to the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com Vera was born December 14, 1920, the daughter of Henry H. and Kathryn (Thiessen) Lampe in Preston. Vera was educated in country schools and graduated from the Preston High School. She attended Business College in Clinton, Iowa after graduation. On May 20, 1942 Vera married Kenneth M. Wilhelm. Kenneth died on November 7, 1989 in Iowa City, Iowa. Vera was a homemaker and farmed with her husband near Buckeye, Iowa and later in the Miles, Iowa area. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. In Vera’s younger years she enjoyed quilting; she also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and word puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Vera will be dearly missed by her two sons; Durwin (Brenda) Wilhelm of Preston, Iowa; Dave (Anna Kilburg) Wilhelm of Clinton, Iowa; two daughters Debbie (Dwain) Johnson of Clinton, Dianna Shirley of Camanche, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Vera is preceded in death by her infant son Mark; husband Kenneth; son Dennis; sister Alta Kruse; and one grandson Dylon Holstad.Vera Wilhelm,Preston,Iowa December 14, 1920-September 11, 2007
