Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Winkelman, pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison, officiating.LAKELAND, Fla. — Edward Henry Brackemyer, 79, of Lakeland and formerly of Morrison, Ill., died Sunday at his home. Interment will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park Cemetery, Sterling, Ill.He was born June 26, 1928, in Sterling to Simon H. and Grace Shipma Brackemyer. He married LaNora Stern on Sept. 29, 1950, in Sterling. She died in 1958. He married Phyllis Near on Aug. 14, 1958, in Sterling. He then married Colleen Covell on Feb. 28, 1975, in Morrison. He then married Kathleen Bry-Hadley on Sept. 23, 1988, in Monroe, Wis.He attended Green Valley Grade School, rural Whiteside County, Ill., and attended Morrison High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was engaged in farming in rural Whiteside County for 40 years. Most recently, he was employed by the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, for 18 years before retiring in 1990. He was a lifetime member of Morrison VFW Post 8281. He also was a member of First Reformed Church, Tampa, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Kathy; four daughters, Kathy Mae (Donn) Johnson of North Haven, Conn., Kerry (David) Meyer of Prophetstown, Ill., Kathy Rae Bechen of Hopkinsville, Ky., Lee Ann (Jason) Trexler of Crystal Lake, Ill.; three sons, Larry (Pam) Brackemyer of Morrison and Randy Brackemyer and Denny (Jean) Brackemyer, both of Bernard; one stepdaughter, Sherry L. (Charles) O’Brien of Loves Park, Ill.; two stepsons, David D. (Margaret) Hadley of Gettysburg, Pa., and Darrell S. (Darlene) Hadley of Winter Haven, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Mae Donaldson of Johnson, Ill.Memorials may be made to Morrison VFW Post 8281 and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Morrison.Condolences may be at www.bosmarenkes.com.He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, grandchild and one sister.Death date: Sept. 9, 2007
