Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.SAVANNA, Ill. — Anna “Ann” Marie Preston, 85, of Savanna, died Saturday at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque. The body will be cremated. She was born May 11, 1922, in Stockton, Ill., to Ambrose and Mary Rebecca Darnill Hill. She attended country school near Stockton and then attended Stockton High School. During World War II, she worked at the Savanna Army Depot as an ammunition assembler. She began her restaurant career at the Indian Head Supper Club. She later worked at Kate’s Bar and Grill, which became Bimm’s Tavern. In 1956, she opened her own restaurant, The Track Side. She also worked with Graham’s Cafe. She owned and operated Ann’s Cafe for 30 years before retiring in 2001.Survivors include her children, Mary, Martha, Linda, Joseph and Jeannine; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob; and two sisters; Virginia and Doris. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
