Jim Canova officiating.ELIZABETH, Ill. — Raymond H. “Doc” Holland, 83, of Elizabeth, died Friday at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Elizabeth. He was born Oct. 28, 1923, to Wesley F. and Marie Handt Holland in Woodbine, Ill. On Aug. 4, 1951, he married Marilyn A. Martin in Elizabeth. He attended several country schools near Elizabeth. He farmed 13 years near Elizabeth. He worked as an insurance agent with Country Companies for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He then worked eight years at the A.S.C.S Office, Elizabeth. He was a lifetime member and usher at St. Mary Catholic Church, Elizabeth. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a volunteer fireman with the city of Elizabeth for 15 years and a Cub Scout master for 10 years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary (Kathy) Holland of Libertyville, Ill., Kevin (Carole) Holland of Billings, Mont., and Roger (Mary) Holland of Apple Valley, Minn.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Lawrence Holland of Galena, Ill.; two sisters, Bertha (Harold) Herrmann of Rock City, Ill., and Ruth Marks of Apple River, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Shirley Holland of Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.
