The Clinton Herald Saturday 11 April 1992, p. 12. Winifred N. Scanlan, 91, of DeWitt, died Thursday at DeWitt Community Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Parish Scripture Service at 5 p.m., at Blazek Funeral Home in DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Jack Crowley, Paul McDonnell, Dorrance Kedley, John Ryan, Jim Verba and Francis Skeffington. Scanlan was born March 5, 1901, in Omaha, Neb. to Edward and Elizabeth Butler Mahoney. She married Dr. George Scanlan on June 1, 1927, in Omaha, Neb. He died March 19, 1976. She was a member of the church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Mary) San Fillipo of San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. David (Kathleen) Townley of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Alice Dolan of San Anselmo, Calif.; Mrs. Ronald (Lucille) Rothert, of Davenport; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, three sisters and a brother. Death date: April 9, 1992.
