The Clinton Herald Monday September 22, 1997 p. 9 Leo C. Droste, 80, of 1710 N. Fourth St., died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Rev. Ronald Young, the Rev. Charles Shepler, the Rev. Christopher David and the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Pape Funeral Home, where a 4:30 p.m. rosary will be recited and a 7 p.m. vigil service will be conducted. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandson, William, Paul, Mark and Michael Bloom; and Douglas and Dennis Carr. He was born July 8, 1917, in Clinton, to Clem and Eva Manemann Droste. He married Mary Cassaday, Jan. 5, 1946, in San Gabriel, Calif. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a seabee with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. He farmed in rural Goose Lake and was a self-employed carpenter. He retired in 1980. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Iowan For Life. Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, Mrs. Mary (William) Bloom of Waukee, Bernadette Carr of Barrington, Ill., Mrs. Therese (Jim) Juneau of Gretna, La., Margaret Adams and Mrs. Patricia (Mark) McNaghten, both of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Judy (Brad) Burken of Charlotte, Mrs. Kathleen (Ron) Brueher of Post Falls, Idaho, and Sister Catherine Joseph O.P. "Paula" of Nashville, Tenn.; four sons, Thomas Droste of Goose Lake, William Droste of Rosemount, Minn., Donald Droste of rural Clinton and Edward Droste of Clinton; 34 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Arnold Droste of Clinton; and a sister, Marie Wagemester of Clinton. He was preceded in death by two infant daughter, an infant son, a grandson, three brothers and five sisters. Death date: Sept. 20, 1997.
