The Clinton Herald Monday July 23, 1973 p. 10 Joseph Droste, 57, Route 3, died early today in his home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Boniface Church with the Rev. Philip Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pape Funeral Home. The parish Rosary will be said at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Ed. Ernst, Victor Burken, Francis Starr, Cornell Baker, Harold Smith, Dean Keller, Leroy Andresen and August Jost. Joseph Droste was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Clinton County the son of Clem and Eve Manneman Droste and married Alta Tietjens Sept. 30, 1937 in DeWitt. He was a member of St. Boniface Church, the Loyal Order of Moose. Mr. Droste farmed in the Clinton area all his life. Survivors include his widow; eight children, Mrs. Jeff (Ellen Mary) Cooley, Clinton; Mrs. Michael (Linda) Harmon, Fenton, Ill.; Mrs. Joe (Kathleen) Mattiesen, Clinton; John, Harold, Fred, Laura and Raymond, all at home; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Vincent (Angelina) Holdgrafer, Bernice Droste, Mrs. Al (Marie) Wagemester, all of Clinton; three brothers, Werner and Arnold, Clinton and Leo, Goose Lake. Mr. Droste was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
